Lane Cove is the administrative centre of Lane Cove Council, about 7 km north-west of the city on the northern side of Port Jackson where the Lane Cove River opens out. Most of its residential growth came after the Second World War, and today roughly six in ten dwellings are flats or apartments with about three in ten separate houses. The shopping hub centres on the pedestrian plaza at Burns Bay and Longueville roads, and about 16 per cent of the area is public recreation space, including Burns Bay Park, Pottery Green and Tantallon Oval.

Scale changes the planning rather than the requirement: a podium slab carries a large number of hydraulic penetrations, so collaring is coordinated with the hydraulic contractor and completed in one pass before the pour, with documentation prepared for the development as a whole.
The perimeter becomes the priority and runs the full slab rather than the exposed faces only. Reserve country holds mature timber that supports established colonies within easy foraging distance, so junctions at any step-down are detailed carefully and reticulation is worth adding where landscaping will later cover treated soil.

Anything applied when the original house was built is well past its service life, so the new dwelling needs a current system installed to AS 3660.1 with its own certificate and durable notice. What the old block does affect is the soil, since decades of garden material can already be supporting activity.
In most cases, yes. The National Construction Code requires a termite management system for new houses and outbuildings in termite-prone areas where the primary building elements can be damaged by termites.
